Mutual Respect
We endeavor to treat all our patients with dignity, respect and honesty. Everyone at Wellfield Medical Centre is committed to delivering an excellent service. We encourage patients to highlight any discrepancies and to offer the same commitment in return.
Holistic Care
We treat patients and illnesses. This means that we are equally interested in the physical, psychological and social aspects of patients’ individual care.
Continuity of Care
Building and maintaining a strong relationship between doctors, health professionals, and patients is essential to the way we work. This is especially so in the management of ongoing problems or long-term illness. Wherever possible we encourage patients to continue seeing the same health professional and wherever possible we will facilitate this through our appointments system. However, for new problems or should the doctor or nurse normally seen is not available, or if there is a preference to see someone else then we would encourage the patient to see any of the doctors or nurses at the practice.
Learning and Training
We are a training practice and are committed to the training of our doctors and nurses all of whom are closely supervised. Working in close partnership with the Deanery we regularly provide training facilities for up to four GP Registrars and two F2’s.
As a Training Practice we also work very closely with the University of Manchester and provide educational facilities for all levels of medical students throughout the scholastic year. These are supervised by our GP Partners.
We believe in “life-long learning” and all the health professionals and administrative staff, undergo an annual appraisal where the goals of the individual, teams and practice are discussed and agreement reached on the way forward. Regular reviews act as a way of reinforcing effective performance, highlighting areas for improvement and recognise developing strengths. Regular monthly team training events ensure timely interventions and learning opportunities are discussed in an open forum.
We also recognise the benefit of supported learning for our patients and families in enhancing their ability to manage and deal with both ‘self-limiting’ and long-term illnesses
All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.
The average pay for GPs working in Wellfield Medical Centre in the last financial year was £89,759 before tax and National Insurance. This is for 4 full time GPs and 1 part time GPs who worked in the practice for more than six months.
